The shop manual didn't mention removing these final two screws; this may be where a '54 differs from the previous years. In any case, it was obviously necessary. After removing these screws, the wing window lifted out of the door.
The straight strip of stainless was held on by a screw (on the handle-side of the door) and 6 standard clips. These are quite rusty and will be replaced later. After removing these, the stainless piece came off.

The stainless pieces that garnish the window opening were held on by 8 small screws on the inside, and 7 screws on the outside. Some of these are denoted here by the red circles.
